Swim Instructor Salary : $11.50 to $15.50 per hour
Swim Instructor Hours : Daily from 10 : 00am- 1 : 00pm, 4 : 00pm-7 : 00pm (Part Time)
Swim Instructor Responsibilities :
- Report to work, in proper attire, 5 minutes prior to scheduled class time
- Always introduce yourself to students / parents
- Learn students' names and who is in class
- Be prepared for class with an instructional plan
- Know the proper skills per instructional level
- Inform the supervisor of any problems that you may be having
- Report any new participants whose name does not appear on the roster to your supervisor
- Refer parents with major concerns or questions to the Aquatic Coordinator / Director
- Deal with parent communications before or after class
- Take attendance for all classes
- Keep accurate attendance records on the proper forms
- Display leadership qualities; provide direct instructional leadership
- Maintain a safe and professional environment
- Enforce all rules and safety policies
- Understand procedures to follow in case of emergency
- Understand all pool rules and teach and enforce these rules in your classes
- Put all needed class equipment away at the conclusion of your class
- Neatly and accurately complete skill records forms
- Return these forms to your supervisor at the conclusion of the session
- Performs other duties as assigned
Swim Instructor Qualifications :
- Must be at least fifteen (15) years old
- High School diploma or GED equivalent and / or two years experience preferred
- Must possess sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment skills, and a positive attitude
- Good customer service skills, high ethical standards, an appropriate professional image, and a team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to effectively communicate and build relationships with Y staff, members, and vendors
- Diligence in responding to safety and emergency situations
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) helpful
