Overview
The Physical Therapist is responsible for the evaluation of patients; development, coordination and implementation of the treatment plan;
discharge planning, maintenance of informative, accurate and timely documentation. The Physical Therapist is responsible for supervision of the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA).
Based on assigned unit / area, the physical therapist could be involved in team meetings, family meetings, home evaluations, staff training and basic office duties / reports.
Treatment outside the hospital setting could include home.
Physical Therapists are required to keep current national registry and Missouri licensure, in addition to participating in continuing education and training of others.
The Physical Therapist reports directly to the Director of Rehab.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients / residents / clients and develop treatment plans with goals measurable and functional.
- Implement treatment plan or supervise PTA regarding implementation of treatment plan.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation based on the requirement of the assigned unit / area.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, patient / resident / client family members, social workers / case managers, physicians and co-workers.
- Participate in continuing education opportunities and provide training / learning opportunities to others. Involved with student clinicals.
- Weekend and holiday rotational coverage is expected.
Qualifications
Education
Must be a graduate from a program of physical therapy which is approved by the Accreditation Committee of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Licensure / Certification
- Current Missouri licensure
- BLS required
Work Experience
- Prefer 1-year experience for assignment to Home Health
