- Description : Job Summary : Under direct to indirect supervision of department administrator and / or hemodialysis nurse;
- prepares dialysis and Reverse Osmosis equipment before each hemodialysis session; cleans and sterilizes machines per protocol after each dialysis session;
- delivers equipment and supplies to patient room as scheduled; assists nurse with set up and break down of equipment in patient room before and after hemodialysis;
- performs quality control procedures (e.g., machine and water testing, routine maintenance) on machines; performs supply inventory, ordering and restocking;
- participates in Quality Monitoring, Continuous Quality Improvements and other service-projects; cleans and maintains work area to be safe and clutter free;
- works cooperatively with staff and other departments in maintaining hemodialysis standards of care.Essential Responsibilities : Prepares dialysis and Reverse Osmosis (RO) equipment before each hemodialysis session;
cleans and sterilizes machines per protocol after each dialysis session.Transports / delivers dialysis and RO machines and supplies (e.
g., disposable tubing, filters, syringes, solutions) to patient room as scheduled; assists nurse with set up and break down of equipment in patient room before and after hemodialysis.
Performs quality control procedures (e.g., machine and water testing, routine maintenance, and trouble shooting and repair) on dialysis and RO machines;
records and reports water test results and other issues / problems to supervisor or dialysis nurse in timely manner; assures equipment is maintained and available for use at all times.
Performs supply inventory; orders and restocks same; participates in economical utilization of supplies; cleans and maintains work area to be safe and clutter free for patients and staff.
Participates in Quality Monitoring (QM), Continuous Quality Improvements (CQI) and other service-projects as appropriate;
May participate in committees for improvement of care.Demonstrates sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities in area of specialization.
Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide care and / or service appropriate to age groups served.
Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and / or service.Performs other duties and accepts responsibility as assigned.
Basic Qualifications : Experience Six (6) months hemodialysis technician experience. Education High school diploma; or equivalent combination of education (lesser) & experience may be considered in lieu of requirements.
Certificate of completion of Hemodialysis Technician Course. License, Certification, Registration Basic Life Support from American Heart Association Additional Requirements : Demonstrated knowledge of hemodialysis procedures / techniques using hemodialysis and Reverse Osmosis equipment.
Working knowledge of universal precautions.Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, change management, customer service, interpersonal relations, oral communication, quality management, results orientation, and teamwork.
Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone.Reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
