JT4 is seeking a Systems Administrator for their Edwards Air Force Base located in California. This is an onsite opportunity.
JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / DUTIES
- Evaluates system specifications, installs enterprise computer systems, configures systems, establishes standards, ensures hardware / software compatibility, and maintains workstations and server systems focusing on the Operating system and the network.
- Performs the daily operational support on the computer Operating System to include system security, access, configuration, backups and restores.
- Specifies network requirements, monitors LAN performance, troubleshoots networking hardware, and ensures system is working properly according to specifications and parameters.
- Organizes and secures directory structure and assists / trains staff members in the use of department Document Management Systems, associated databases and CM / DM release procedures.
- Maintains and designs functional, visually esthetic web pages.
- Specifies hardware requirements and provides Computer Authorization and custodial receipt listings to track equipment configurations and identification logs.
- Serves as POC for problem reporting, incremental version updates and monitors yearly support contracts.
- Makes recommendations for future hardware / software implementations and related process improvements, schedules, plans and performs system upgrades including the transition from design, test, production, and documentation environments.
- Provides operational status as required.
- Uses established policies and procedures and subject matter knowledge to complete complex assignments requiring originality and ingenuity performed under minimum supervision with considerable latitude for independent contribution.
- Analyzes system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems.
- Manages and administer storage solutions including NAS and SAN systems.
- Implements and enforces new and update existing network system administration policies.
- Operates, maintains and administers real-time flight-testing systems in the Ridley Mission Control Center (RMCC).
- Performs corrective and preventive maintenance procedures on all necessary equipment.
- Identifies network and system administration weaknesses and problem areas and provides recommendations for corrective actions, must have the knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot data and telecommunication networks and equipment.
- Operates test equipment including oscilloscope, Fire BERT 6000, and Telemetry Processing systems.
- Operates and configures type one IP-based decrypters.
- Works with and provides customer service to a variety of customers.
- Performs various tasks regarding Media Management to ensure customer requests are fulfilled, inventory is tracked, and documentation is accurate.
- Performs maintenance, configuration, and administration functions on all required support systems.
- Develops, modifies, and reviews Operating Instructions for general network and system administration tasks within the work center as a SME.
- Acts as lead system administrator in the performance of computer and network administration in accordance with documented security directives and requirements.
- Assists in the creation of documentation related to system creation / modifications to include Operating Instructions (OIs).
- Performs additional duties as required.
Proficient with :
- Windows 10 and Windows Server 2008 / 2012 / 2016 / 2019 / 2022.
- Windows Server Active Directory Domain Services.
- Linux-based OSs : Redhat, CentOS.
- Network switch / router configurations : CISCO and Juniper desired.
- Citrix Provisioning Services desired.
- Scripting utilizing PowerShell.
REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in associated discipline from an accredited academic institution or equivalent experience through technical training, completion of a recognized certification program, or experience.
- Requires at least 6 years of experience in computer system related areas of expertise.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience with Windows Operating Systems to include any version of Server, Linux Operating Systems.
- Virtual server experience
- Familiar with basic script / program languages (Python, C++, SQL, C#, Java, etc.).
- Network background
- Experience / familiarity with the components of a computer system (PSU, CPU, motherboard, etc.).
- Must possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in computer science, graphics, and information systems.
- Must have specific experience in the maintenance of Operating Systems and support applications, in a centralized and distributed server environment.

- Must be able to obtain a CompTIA Security + certification within the first six months of the hire date or possess a current CompTIA Security + certification.
- Must be a team player.
- Must be willing to work nonstandard hours, which may include nights and weekends.
- Must possess a valid, state issued driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a cross-utilized environment that supports real-time operations.
- Active DoD secret security clearance or higher.
- Experience with, and knowledge of, Dept of Defense protocols and policies.
- Current CompTIA Security+ certification.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written.
- This job is performed at the RMCC, in a real-time mission support environment. Demonstration of a successful adaptation to a similarly demanding environment.
SALARY
The expected salary for this position is $110K annually.
