PURPOSE OF JOB
Teaches one or more subjects to students in Kansas City Virtual Academy by performing the
following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Utilizes district curriculum / resources and appropriate student achievement data to prepare both synchronous and asynchronous lessons.
- Conduct live synchronous lessons as required by the department.
- Conducts daily RTI sessions utilizing individualized student achievement data in reading / math.
- Prepares, administers, and corrects assignments and assessments, and provides timely feedback to students.
- Analyzes data and implements instruction based on the needs of students.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Utilizes virtual teaching best practices to maintain classroom management and engagement.
- Provides guidance to students and parents when adjustment and issues arise.
- Keeps attendance and grade records as required by the department and regularly communicates progress to parents.
- Maintains records of student and family communication.
- Maintains a virtual classroom which encompasses a professional environment on screen and an organized and current learning platform (Google Classroom / SeeSaw).
- Schedules whole group, small group and individual meetings with students.
- Required to report in-person for all district and state testing and as determined by the department.
- Work location is a hybrid of in-person and offsite.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from four-year college or university
Missouri State Certification in : Secondary Science
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Demonstrated experience and / or training in current techniques and skills in teaching elementary
level students.
Teaching experience in urban schools.
Proficiency in various technology tools such as Microsoft Suites, G-Suites, Virtual
Classrooms, Digital Curriculum and technology / curriculum integration.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Length of work year : 8 hours per day; 5 days / week; 187 work days
