As a Sr.SDET within Kuiper PTS, you will own the development and execution of test strategy, tooling, and automation to deliver high-quality software to meet Kuiper's critical mission requirements.

You will manage dependencies, collaborate with engineers across the Kuiper Payload organization, and regularly communicate with senior leaders and stakeholders at all levels.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills, be able to work independently, juggle multiple tasks, and maintain professionalism under pressure while achieving high-quality results.

You should have deep knowledge of software engineering practices, understand how software and hardware systems interact, and can drive design and implementation of test strategies in highly complex and ambiguous systems.

Familiarity with space systems is desired but not a requirement.

Key job responsibilities :

• Engage with and influence key stakeholders and internal teams to test and ensure operational functional requirements are met or exceeded.
• Create and implement automated processes and test methods that reduce manual efforts and increase overall efficiency, quality, and scalability.
• Engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, design, test, and implement internal custom processes and test strategies.
• Provide on-shift support for critical issues.
• Work closely with other internal System Development Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new processes, testing, and build systems.
• Create and review documentation and processes regarding issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc.

A day in the life :

Although each day may bring new challenges, the majority of your time will be spent creating test strategies, new automation, test tools, and infrastructure.

We collaborate closely with software development teams to achieve high-quality releases that meet tight timelines without introducing new regressions or lowering product quality.

About the team :

Our team's mission is to ensure the software development teams are building and delivering high-quality software solutions that meet Kuiper's critical mission objectives.

We achieve this by developing and executing on providing custom test infrastructure, quality automated testing, and influencing quality behaviors throughout the Kuiper organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical field.
• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of experience in architecture and design, scripting, test code development in Python, Java, Go, or equivalent, and building test libraries as part of a product development organization delivering consumer-oriented products.
• 5+ years of experience with system integration, testing large integrated systems.
• 3+ years of experience with Linux OS and shell-scripting.
• Experience working closely with development and business teams to communicate problem impacts and understand business requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in Embedded software development and testing.
• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
• Hands-on experience with black and white-box testing of communications network stacks such as Ethernet, 3GPP, WiFi, DOCSIS.
• Hands-on experience with setup, control, and automation of lab equipment like spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, packet testers, channel emulators, and high-speed oscilloscopes.
• Debugging of complex hardware-software systems.
• Networking or RF communications knowledge.
• Experience working with AWS SDK and CDK; strong understanding of AWS essentials; AWS Certified Solutions Architect is considered a plus.
