Job Description

  • Strategic Planning and Market Research :
  • Market Analysis : Conduct thorough market research to identify new business opportunities and industry trends. Analyze competitor strategies and market conditions.
  • Strategic Planning : Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with the company's goals. Create long-term plans to achieve growth and market penetration.
  • Target Market Identification : Identify and target potential clients in various sectors, such as commercial, industrial, healthcare, municipal, education, and retail construction.
  • Client Relationship Management :
  • Client Acquisition : Identify and establish relationships with potential clients. Lead efforts to secure new contracts and projects.
  • Client Retention : Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients. Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and address any concerns promptly.
  • Networking : Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking events to promote the company and build relationships with potential clients and partners.
  • Proposal and Bid Management :
  • RFP / RFQ Response : Lead the development of responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs).

Coordinate with the estimating and project management teams to prepare competitive and compelling bids.

  • Proposal Development : Oversee the creation of proposal documents, ensuring they are accurate, professionally presented, and aligned with client requirements.
  • Marketing and Branding :
  • Marketing Strategy : Collaborate with the marketing team to develop marketing campaigns and materials that effectively communicate the company's capabilities and achievements.
  • Brand Development : Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all marketing and business development efforts. Enhance the company's market presence and reputation.
  • Sales and Revenue Growth :
  • Sales Goals : Set and achieve sales targets in alignment with the company's financial objectives. Track progress and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Pipeline Management : Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline. Monitor and report on the status of leads, prospects, and deals.
  • Collaboration and Team Leadership :
  • Cross-Functional Coordination : Work closely with project management, estimating, and operations teams to ensure alignment on project pursuits and client expectations.

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in business development, preferably within the construction or general contracting industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach. Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
