The Global Market Insights Strategy Team provides macroeconomic and capital markets insights and research to institutional investors, financial advisors, and their clients to help them make informed investment decisions.
The team strives to simplify the complex in the global economy and markets through our industry-leading publication, the Guide to the Markets as well as speeches, webcasts, podcasts, blogs and other forms of communication.
Job Summary
The Global Market Strategist, based in New York, will assist in formulating and communicating JPMorgan Asset Management Management’s view on the markets, the economy and investing to a broad audience including financial advisors and institutional clients.
This role will entail moderate to heavy travel across the . The candidate will play a leading role in shaping the team’s views across a variety of alternative asset classes and share these views in a range of client-facing settings.
The candidate will play a leading role in the development of the team’s Guide to Alternative publication and will meet with a wide variety of clients to discuss the outlook for a variety of alternative asset classes.
The primary focus will be on private markets, but the candidate will also be expected to be well-versed in macroeconomics and public markets.
While the strategist will assist in the research process, this is not a primarily research-oriented role. The candidate will report to the Chief Market Strategist for the Americas, also based in New York.
Job Responsibilities
Participate in the production of regular client materials, including the Guide to Alternatives, Guide to the Markets, On the Minds of Investors blog posts, and short-form videos.
Particular focus on development of the Guide to Alternatives and Alternatives-related content.
- Present at in person and virtual client meetings and conferences to discuss the current state of the global economy and markets, with a particular focus on Alternatives.
- Train the JPMorgan Asset Management sales force in the . on global economic and market issues, with a particular focus on Alternatives and how to use the resources available through the Market Insights program to address these issues and tie them to investment solutions.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Minimum work experience 6 years
- Superb written and verbal communication skills, as well as the proven ability to convey ideas effectively with passion and clarity (simplify the complex / use of stories and analogies).
- Intellectual curiosity and the ability to generate insightful and relevant investment ideas backed by rigorous research.
- Strong understanding of financial markets and economics; candidate should be well-versed in capital markets history and economic indicators, as well as equity, fixed income, asset allocation, and alternative asset classes.
- Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg, FactSet, Reuters, Microsoft Office, etc.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Advanced degree in Finance or Economics and / or CFA preferred.
- Writing samples, examples of research or other materials are welcome.
- Prior experience in private markets preferred.
- Experience in retail, broker / dealer, mutual fund industry preferable.
