Description
This position leads the efforts to develop and coordinate training and learning programs in support of the Vertex Returns Outsourcing organization.
Acts as a work leader for interns and early career employees and serves as the initial leader for new employees. Responsible for managing new knowledge acquisition and upskilling for tax preparers, staff and leaders of the Vertex Returns Outsourcing practice, enabling them to grow their knowledge and capabilities related to the tax returns preparation and management process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Manages learning resources which include scheduling, course development, reporting, program and curriculum management, and learner assistance.
- Supports instructor-led and virtual classroom training and is responsible for compiling and analyzing data on learning effectiveness and efficiency.
- Supervises newly hired employees from 6 -12 months, an L&D coordinator as well as interns and early career employees along with their related workload.
- Ensures an exceptional learner experience by providing guidance and customer support throughout the learning journey on all Learning initiatives.
- Liaises with internal teams to manage the learning engagement and ensure successful learning outcomes.
- Acts as the key point of contact, and track and maintain documentation and systems to ensure continuous learning and skills development for all tax preparers in the Returns Outsourcing organization.
- Proactively researches available learning programs to meet upskilling needs of the organization.
- Identifies areas of optimization or automation to streamline processes and drive operational efficiencies.
- Works closely with other supervisors to address issues and ensure alignment of training.
- Provides operational support to learning programs and classes, including : coordinating training schedules, tracking registrations, and overseeing enrollment processes.
- Oversees logistics for Learning programs and classes, including : preparing instructor and participant materials; interfacing with internal teams such as IT and Office Facilities.
- Composes Vertex Learning communications including announcements and program invitations.
- Periodically distributes surveys and training evaluations to enhance the learning experience.
- Engages in the tax preparation process and have a comprehensive understanding of the entire process flow and applications.
- May lead projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Occasional business travel may be required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Determine appropriate resourcing of staff in order to achieve goals and objectives.
- Coach employees on performance gaps, career development opportunities, and strategies.
- Mentor and coach employees on all human resource related processes including onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compensation and rewards.
- Recognize others’ contributions and share credit for success.
- Own attainment of high employee satisfaction and retention; lead development of program and initiatives within group to attain high employee satisfaction.
- Prepare and manage budget as assigned; analyzes variances and initiates corrective actions to maximize operational performance.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING :
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Accounting, Business Administration, Education) required.
- Five (5) plus years experience in a tax return outsourcing environment and associated tools / practices.
- Two (2) plus years’ experience in training administration, coordination and logistics support or related certifications preferred.
Adult educational experience and / or or related degree / training a plus.
- Up to two (2) years leadership responsibility.
- Experience with instructional technologies and virtual learning platforms (WebEx, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
- Or equivalent combination of education and / or experience.
