Education and Experience Requirements :
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 year of related structural assembly experience.
- Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred.
- One year of experience credit considered for graduates of Savannah Tech Aircraft Structures Technical Certificate Program.
Position Purpose :
In a team-oriented work environment, under moderate supervision, perform a variety of structural assembly operations in a production department.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities : Essential Functions :
- Perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures, including varied drilling and riveting operations, ensuring parts and assemblies meet FAA requirements, customer specifications, and Gulfstream quality standards.
- Rivet structural assemblies and parts, including sheet metal parts, using all required tools (e.g., portable riveting guns, pneumatic guns, pneumatic drills, countersinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers, rivets).
- Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine the sequence of operations, type, size, and hole pattern for rivets.
- Check all work to ensure a defect-free assembly prior to final inspection.
- Maintain and utilize all logs and records (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs). Use the resource planning system to enter daily labor against the correct Work Order and Item numbers.
- Align and assemble parts to be riveted using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area, support the company's 5S Program, and comply with all safety regulations.
- Work under moderate supervision on assigned duties and tasks.
- Support Lean Activities and participate in continuous improvement activities (e.g., YIAW, Kaizen events).
Additional Functions :
- Keep shop and aircraft work areas clean and uncluttered.
- Properly care for and maintain shop equipment and tools as assigned by Supervisor.
- Comply with safety rules and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements :
- Basic knowledge of various aircraft structures, sheet metal, and fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints.
- Ability to read and interpret a 6" scale.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read a scale and perform basic shop math.
- Read and comprehend basic documents and instructions.
- Essential personal skills, including an aptitude for hands-on craftwork, professional attitude, attention to detail, and ability to work with others to meet demanding schedules.
- Good housekeeping and safety practices.
- Ability to work with composite resins and materials.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability to work any shift.
- Ability to climb ladders, stands, stairs, and work in small spaces or restricted areas.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
