Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure): Clinical Open Rank and Director of Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT)

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Texas A&M University College of Medicine seeks to fill one (1) academic professional track (non-tenure) position as Director of the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) Program.

This is a full-time, 11-month appointment, renewable annually, with an anticipated start date in the fall of 2024. Applicants will be considered for the faculty rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor, depending on qualifications.

The Program Director will provide leadership and oversight for the Texas A&M University HSC site of TCHATT Program, which is part of the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC).

The successful candidate will be responsible for :

Program Leadership :

  • Provide strategic guidance and leadership for the TAMHSC-TCHATT program, ensuring the integration of all program components within TCHATT, the Department, and the TCMHCC.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive telehealth services that uphold professional, ethical, and quality standards.

Team Building and Collaboration :

Foster teamwork within the TCHATT program and across TCMHCC, departmental, and community partnerships. Collaborate with university colleagues and community members to address issues related to TCHATT at all levels.

Program Advocacy and Development :

Advocate for TCHATT funding and promote expanded opportunities for care recipients. Oversee budget development, monitoring, and presentation in collaboration with department and business office leadership.

Evaluation and Reporting :

Maintain evaluative processes and prepare monthly reports for department heads and the TCMHCC Executive Committee. Regularly update the Department Head on TCHATT activities and operations, and provide briefings to TAMHSC leadership as needed.

Supervision and Mentorship :

Supervise and mentor the TCHATT Program Manager and other key positions, providing regular evaluations and feedback. Conduct routine meetings with managers and leads.

Clinical Services :

Provide direct clinical services, including diagnostic assessments, brief therapy sessions, and school consultations. Offer clinical supervision to graduate students, medical students, residents and other trainees in the clinical setting as required.

Services :

  • Contribute to the departmental and College of Medicine educational programs.
  • Attend and participate in related departmental and College of Medicine administrative and committee activities

Reporting Structure :

The Program Director will report directly to the Department Head through the Psychiatry Clinical Director. Additionally, there will be a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Co-Chair of TAMU-TCHATT and the MPSY Chief of Staff.

Required education and experience include :

  • M.D, PhD, DO, MSN, DNP, MSW, NP or equivalent professional degree
  • Completion of an accredited program in your discipline
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in your discipline if applicable
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical experience, particularly in school-based or other mental health care settings
