Job Description
This position is for a Senior Electrical CAD Technician who will work in the Electrical Engineering group, reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of Cadence or Mentor Graphics, and layout technologies.
Responsibilities will include the layout of new designs of electronics, starting from the bare board to completed fabrications, to prototypes, and release to production.
These devices are highly complex and require precise layout and technical understanding of EMI implications.
Work includes; circuit design and analysis; PC board layout concept & requirements; mechanical design supervision and concept formulation;
stress and reliability analysis of circuitry; component specification, de-rating and selection; cost analysis; library updates in Cadence and preparation of product documentation.
The individual will be responsible for the design of new products and the upgrading of existing products to reduce cost, add features, improve performance & reliability, and to incorporate embedded technology in those designs.
Experience with Cadence is Required. Experience with SPICE and design software, circuit miniaturization, and high voltage technology are highly preferred.
This position requires strong communications skills (verbal and written), that are carried out in a timely manner, and that may include daily interaction with engineers at other Elbit Systems of America locations.
The candidate may be required to prepare and maintain project schedules, and to supervise the activities of electronics technicians and interns.
The individual will be expected to work in a hands-on manner.
Qualifications
- AS degree in technical field or relevant experience
- 5+ years’ experience
- Develop schematics and PCB layouts in compliance with the specifications
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Effectively communicate design and engineering requirements
- Able to work as part of a cross functional team
- Demonstrated initiative, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Capability to develop and conduct electrical tests to include troubleshooting
- MS Office skills; Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio
- Ability to obtain DOD Security Clearance
Preferred Skills :
- Experience with Cadence or Mentor Graphics
- Experience with any of the following : high voltage micro power supply design, low power, ultra-dense, electronic packaging, miniature electronic devices, magnetics, EMI filtering, power supply control theory, manufacturing of power supply and / or high voltage micro circuits
- Experience with digital electronics, DSPs, PGAs, FPGAs, PICs and Microcontrollers / Microprocessors (STM32 and MSP in particular).
- Verify design robustness by completing EMI product level testing
