Position Opening Power Systems Engineer

The Company : Electric Power Group (EPG) is in Pasadena, California, USA. EPG is the leading provider of synchrophasor technology solutions and services to Utilities and ISOs globally.

EPG has more than 30 customers and is expanding its portfolio of products, global customer base, and services. EPG installations are integrated with different EMS (Alstom, ABB, Siemens, GE, Monarch);

historians (PI, Phasor Archiver, Open PDC Historian), simulators and downstream applications. EPG has a strong customer base of leading ISOs and Utilities, including PJM, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, BPA, SCE, Duke, Dominion, AEP, Commonwealth Edison, and installations in the Middle East and India.

EPG develops advanced software applications for the power industry by leveraging the expert power system knowledge of our team, and providing innovative cutting-edge solutions in an ever-evolving industry.

  • EPG’s solutions utilize power system knowledge base, big data analytics, high performance computing, machine learning and advanced analytics for solving industry problems such as oscillation monitoring, detection, and source location;
  • wide area situational awareness; integration of renewables; managing and monitoring inverter based renewable resources (IBR);

mission critical control center operations; model validation; event detection and root cause assessments; and advanced platforms for linear state estimation, contingency analysis, WAMS and WAMPAC.

Current Opportunity : EPG is seeking qualified applicants to join its team of experts in the areas of Power Systems Engineering for full-time employment.

Power Systems Engineer : Proficiency in power system analysis including power flow simulations, transient stability analysis, contingency analysis, and event analysis.

Relevant areas for this position include synchrophasor technology, wide area monitoring systems (WAMS), oscillations monitoring and analysis, data analysis, machine learning, IBR performance monitoring and analysis, model validation and dynamic simulations.

Applicants with experience in real-time operations support for transmission and distribution systems, control room technology, and product management, including synchrophasor applications, are highly encouraged to apply for this position.

Applicants with advanced degrees and 3 years+ of experience preferred. Applicants with knowledge of simulation tools such as PSSE, PSLF, Power World, TSAT, Matlab and experience with python, C++, C# programming languages preferred.

Minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Advanced degree and / or experience preferred.
