Schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the Hospital and Department. Training days / hours TBD. This position will pay $18-$22 hourly DOE Overall Responsibility : The Oncology Assistant supports the Oncologist and Technicians to provide safe and efficient treatments for animals receiving care.
They help facilitate the treatment of animals in Oncology by assisting in procedures, chemotherapy, and consultations. Key Areas of Responsibility : Performs animal restraint Help admit chemotherapy patients Perform TPR accurately Assist the Technician in chemotherapy drug administration Perform blood work (procyte, chemistry, sedivue, lacuna, assist with send out) Stocking Cleaning / disinfecting after chemotherapy administration Cleaning exam rooms after exams Prepares for procedures and anticipates the needs of the department Assist Technicians in CT's, radiographs, and a variety of other procedures Administration of oral, IM, SQ medications and SQ fluids under the supervision of a technician Filling of prescriptions Other duties as directed Minimum Qualifications : High School diploma or equivalent required.
At least 1 year of animal experience preferred. Preferred Qualifications : Two years of experience as a veterinary assistant with job responsibilities that required animal restraint and radiographs.
Physical Requirements : This job is physically active and requires frequent bending. It also requires routine lifting and restraining of animals in excess of 50 pounds.
Skill Requirements : Strong ability to multitask and anticipate needs. Proficient in animal restraint. Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
Ability to navigate Medical Record and Whiteboard programs in a veterinary setting.
