JOB SUMMARY

Assists in project management support and analysis with some guidance. Works with customers to understand and analyze operational procedures, information requirements, processes and / or other needs.

Required Skills

  • Functional knowledge of drafting techniques and practices.
  • Familiarity with drafting software.
  • Familiarity with conducting field observations and annotation.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to partners and vendors.

Preferred Skills

  • Functional knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Knowledge of drafting and construction in the healthcare or academic environment.
  • Functional knowledge of space planning or asset management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and update institutional architectural drawings.
  • Ensure drawings are maintained to the required institutional and industry standards.
  • Work with various departments to create and maintain technical drawing products and resources to support new and ongoing efforts.
  • Assist in managing the Space Management platform and associated Space Survey.
  • Create conceptual drawing sets and construction plans for small to mid-sized construction and renovation projects.
  • Assist partners and consultants in facilitating drawing requests from current and archived projects.
  • Assist in the creation of custom maps and drawing products.
  • Communicate with staff members, vendors, and consultants to schedule site visits for drawing verification.
  • Conduct site visits to collect various forms of data to support institutional planning efforts.
  • Collaborate with members of staff and vendors to create functional room numbering plans.
  • Ability to summarize observations from data that is collected during site visits.
  • Assist in project efforts directly and indirectly related to drafting and facilities management.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT (NOVICE) : Planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.
  • PROCESS IMPROVEMENT (NOVICE) : Identifies, analyzes and improves upon existing business processes for optimization and to meet standards of quality.
  • PROJECT PLANNING - (NOVICE) : Demonstrates ability to realistically anticipate resource needs, identify and break work down into discrete and measurable tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, prepare acceptance criteria and organize work for a medium sized project.

Appropriately matches equipment and capital resources to task demands. Reshapes project during life-cycle evolution, if needed.

Demonstrates ability to break down work into manageable and measurable units, estimating time and costs appropriate to the stage of the project.

Works with basic project management tools, either paper-based or computer software systems.

GAP ANALYSIS (NOVICE) : Analyzes the difference between the current and desired state. The ability to draw appropriate and valid conclusions from data presented, sifting through data to determine the most significant elements.

Identifying common elements and themes in situations and actions, recognizing cause and effect relationships.

FINANCIAL PROCESSES (NOVICE) :

Ability to monitor costs, expenses and revenue as well as the ability to manage those costs and expenses in relation to budgeted amounts.
