Job Responsibilities

Provide high level review of all Genetics / IBI university funding on a monthly basis, provide financial oversight and planning which includes monitoring, managing, reporting and projecting income and expenses during the year and taking the lead to anticipate, communicate, and suggest resolution for activity with a financial impact on the Department and Institute Assist the Associate Director of Research Operations to strategize with faculty on financial management of their research portfolios;

suggest funding opportunities, advise on potential funding issues; prepare agenda items for monthly research meetings.

Represent the Institute for all meetings conducted by department, School and University. Assist the Assistant Director of Human Resources for all faculty and staff regarding specific HR issues, time off, FMLA, performance management / discipline, position discontinuation, departmental, School and University policies in collaboration with the Director.

Assume responsibility for effective communications between the Department / Institute, the School of Medicine and the University and the Chair, IBI Director, Director, faculty, and staff.

Serve as a resource to the Associate Director, research administration and business office staff to promote a collaborative working model.

Advise on process for various financial transactions and assume responsibility for coordinating with the Department of Medicine on necessary transactions.

Foster a client-focused approach to support of the Chair, IBI Director, Director, faculty, and staff. Triage and delegate activities based on a larger vision, staff strengths as needed.

Demonstrate agility in meeting changing needs and comfort with ambiguity.

Assist the Associate Director with pre / post award activities including the annual sponsored project budget process, monthly reconciliations, and re-projections of for the current year.

Meet with Associate Director and Director to review priorities and budget targets. Assist in the management of payroll and SALINC processes for the Department and Institute

Provide reports and analyses to Director on a regular and ad hoc basis. Respond to inquiries, provide insight, and partner with Director to ensure effective financial management of all University operations maintaining a perspective of the impact on the Department / Institute.

Work with Directors of IBI Core facilities to ensure effort of core staff is allocated appropriately in payroll. Meet with Director and faculty on a regular basis, based on need defined by Director and faculty.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Position is contingent upon continued funding.
