JOB GOAL
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing semi-skilled maintenance activities or assisting journey level maintenance staff in performing trade activities.
Incumbents may serve as a lead to Maintenance Assistants. QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.), and two years of related facility maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- May serve as a lead to lower level maintenance staff, which would include prioritizing and assigning work.
- Constructs, installs, repairs, replaces, and maintains a variety of structures and / or equipment, which may include : walls, fencing, picnic equipment, posts, bleachers, playground equipment, desks, splash guards, flooring, grids, ceiling tiles, files, shelves, and other related items.
- Performs various routine electrical duties, such as installing light fixture, maintaining emergency exit lights, installing air conditioning motors, repairing coolers, and performing other related routine electrical activities.
- Prepares paperwork related to daily assignments.
- Removes and / or moves equipment, furniture, and / or boxed items to new locations as directed.
- Performs grounds maintenance activities, which may include : trimming trees, removing trees, filling potholes, grading fields, sweeping parking lots, grinding down cement, cleaning out grass and dirt from sand pits, adding sand to playgrounds, mowing, picking up trash, and performing other related grounds activities.
- Assists in basic painting of classrooms, offices, sport courts, parking lots, and other related areas.

- May require : climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
- May be subjected to : moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gasses, poor ventilation, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
- Very heavy work : exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or in excel of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
