General Summary
The Warehouse and Utilities Assistant will assist in receiving, distributing, and delivering all prepared, unprepared food products and center supplies (freight) for Central Kitchen;
and in loading all food and supplies onto carriers for distribution to Centers, ensuring correct quantities are distributed and products is properly labeled and sealed.
They will maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards under State and Federal guidelines. As needed, assist in the hotline with food production and packaging.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Delivery Driver
Load products onto the carriers for distribution. Ensure that the correct quantities are distributed and product is properly labeled and sealed.
Check off and sign carrier tags on carriers for complete orders
- Oversee loading of all revenue items into carriers as directed. Take over revenue loading when needed
- Ensure all products meet quality and portioning standards. Ensure all items are placed in carriers on the proper shelves and are safe for travel.
Re-design carrier shelving when needed
- Follow directions for preparation of products according to the daily production charts and recipes (when needed)
- Complete cleanup of equipment and fixtures. Clean carriers and coolers daily. Clean loading walk-in daily. Clean all loading areas inside and outside of the building.
- Deliver food, supplies, inter-office mail, and equipment to dining centers or account locations and place them in the proper area
- Assist as needed with all freight orders for distribution to accounts and warehouse duties
- Ensure compliance with all State and Federal driver safety standards
- Maintenance on carts and Metro shelving (wheels, checking for ware)
Warehouse
- Maintain accurate and orderly inventory and records of warehouse stock
- Complete warehouse inventory quarterly and maintain special inventories
- Maintain security of warehouse, including incoming and outgoing of products and personnel
- Receive fresh and frozen foods, supplies, and chemicals daily
- Complete weekly shipments to dining centers
- Assists with the preparation and packaging of food items for contract programs when needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Knowledge
- High school diploma or GED Certificate
- Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
- Current Oregon Food Handler’s Certificate or ability to obtain within two weeks
Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Covid-19 Vaccination or approved waiver from Human Resources
- One year experience in food assembly; high-volume food production preferred
- One year experience driving trucks minimum 24 ft. in length preferred
- Experience with ovens, knives, sealers, can openers, and rolling racks required
- Excellent driving record, insurable by Meals on Wheels People insurance carrier
- Ability to understand and communicate basic cooking directions
- Basic math and computer skills
- Ability to work well with others in a diverse team-oriented atmosphere
