We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Product Platform Engineering team as we accelerate innovation and support future growth through advanced technology solutions.
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for building the mission-critical Product Information Management system, designed to address key customer challenges in the Merchandising process.
Product setup sits at the core of our retail business and this system aims to automate the ingestion of structured product data and standardize product information flow across the Nordstrom ecosystem. A day in the life
- Leads multidimensional projects that involve multiple teams.
- Leads and works with other software engineers on design best practices and conducts code reviews.
- Resolves complex engineering problems, collaborating with others.
- Facilitates cross functional troubleshooting, root cause analysis and engages others when needed.
- Responsible for creating, evaluating, and contributing to feature detailed designs.
- Design, develop, and implement software utilizing an agile project cycle.
- Mentor others on the team and raise the bar for technical knowledge across a wide spectrum.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of information technology concepts issues, trends and best practices as they relate to Cloud technologies and system integrations.
- Apply and share knowledge of security coding practices and secure system fundamentals.
- Ability to guide a set of junior developers in their day-to-day development efforts and unblocking them when needed
You own this if you have
- 7+ years of industry experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of working in Java utilizing Spring Boot framework
- Experience with front-end frameworks and libraries such as React
- Proficiency in CSS and TypeScript
- Proficiency with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes
- Familiarity with relational databases / NoSQL
- Experience with RESTful architecture and micro-services
- Experience with cloud-based services such as AWS
- DevOps knowledge with CI / CD
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Experience in developing near real-time data processing solutions utilizing Kafka is a plus
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery methodologies and tooling
- Retail domain or ecommerce knowledge preferred
