Senior Applied Research Scientist - Machine Learning and Generative AI - Microsoft Research

Responsibilities
- Identify open and interesting questions, conduct independent research, and collaborate with colleagues and researchers across MSR.
- Take ownership of research projects, from prototype to publication.
- Share findings internally and externally, including through team engagements, peer-reviewed publications, and open-source projects, to enable others to build on your work.
- Communicate effectively with product leaders and researchers.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Demonstrated research or applied science experience in Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Multimodal analysis, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Algorithmic problem solving, system design, and software development skills.
- Familiarity with open-source tools such as PyTorch, as well as experience with statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
- Demonstrated publication record in top-tier, peer-reviewed conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, CVPR, AAAI, or in scientific journals.
Applied Sciences IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
