Job Description - Industrial Mechanical Engineer

The requirements of the position call for a creative, effective engineer with strong 3D modeling and 2D technical drawing skills.

The Project Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet industry standards, company requirements, and customer expectations.

This role is expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously, practicing excellent communication between the customer and internal teams.

This Project Engineer assists in expanding the companys reputation in providing high-quality automation platforms, with cost-effective component design.

This candidate must be equipped with strong mechanical aptitude, an ability to self-manage open tasks proficiently, and experience in a manufacturing or industrial equipment environment.

This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager.

Job Responsibilities - Industrial Mechanical Engineer

  • Interpret technical drawings, including tolerance and dimensional analysis Comprehension of ISO, ASME Y14.5, and GD&T standards
  • Communicate with WEISS customers as required to support standard products as well as custom-manufactured solutions
  • Collaborate with WEISS Sales teams as required to develop concepts and proposal presentations, including budgetary price points, key benefits, and delivery timelines
  • Track current projects to maintain delivery schedules for all assigned projects
  • Construct assembly / component bills of materials (BOMs) and router operations required to manufacture or source products using the companys ERP software
  • Communicate with all internal teams, customers, and suppliers efficiently
  • Support maintenance of WEISS standard drawings, including revisions, file locations, and ERP BOMs and router operations
  • Maintain project budget, scope, deliverables, communication, and schedule to
  • Assist in developing new systems or component standards for repeat use across similar projects to promote efficiency in design and standardization to set customer expectations
  • Assist customers or teams with CAD data or technical information requests.

  • Perform other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as directed

Desired Skills & Experience - Industrial Mechanical Engineer

  • Bachelors degree of science, area of study in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar focus. Adequate experience without a degree will be considered.
  • Minimum of 6 or more years of experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience where primary functions included technical equipment design, troubleshooting, and project management.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Microsoft 365 (OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to solve complex problems, determine the root cause, promote effective solutions for the problem at hand as well as a positive impact.
  • Confident understanding of machine components, dynamics, and machine design.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing methods and equipment for component design considerations.
