Senior Manager, Government Relations West

Impact

As a Senior Manager of State Government Affairs (GA) to oversee the West Region at Shipt, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining important GA stakeholder relationships and protecting and growing the business in state capitals and city halls in the following states : California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nevada, and Arizona.

As Shipt’s interface between the company and government officials, the GA team is a vital componet of our cross functional approach to public policy issue management.

The role will require a strong working knowledge of policy issues impacting Shipt customers, shoppers and retail partners, and will provide opportunities to influence and shape our larger public policy agenda.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

A passion for :

Identifying, engaging, and educating public policy stakeholders on our business model and developing legislative strategies to effectively shape policy outcomes.

Creating and implementing proactive state and local advocacy strategies that include direct engagement with key stakeholders, cross-functional support within the business, and collaboration with external consultants.

Cultivating and managing relationships with trade associations, membership organizations, and industry partners.

Providing public officials with timely and relevant information, both responsive and proactive, regarding Shipt’s public policy positions, business operations, and innovation initiatives.

Developing expertise in a wide range of policy issues impacting core business operations including the future of work, transportation, food and product safety, technological innovation including AI, data privacy, campaign finance, and others.

Create opportunities for company leaders to build relationships with elected officials by coordinating visits, tours, and attendance at events

3+ of experience in policy, government affairs, lobbying or advocacy work

Experience working with an app-based company and / or labor experience preferred

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections.
