DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is HIRING , and we're searching for Transportation Technicians / CEI Inspectors (all levels) to join our group around the Troutman area.
While you'll be assigned to a home office, most of these positions will report directly to the field / project.
The Transportation Technician is responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.
Hands-on Training and Mentoring are provided to assist with career development.
Your Primary Responsibilities will include
- A daily documentation of the contractor’s work efforts.
- Project field book preparation and documentation.
- Density log book preparation and documentation.
- Material sampling and testing.
- Assisting with preparation of the Final Estimates package.
- Measures distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions of construction activity / layout.
- Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activity / installations.
- Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications.
- Obtains and prepares material samples for laboratory testing.
- Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and accepts installation.
- Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
- Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities.
KSA’s :
- Receives general instructions regarding assignments and is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.
- Assists Senior Inspectors and / or Project Administrator with completion of specific tasks and assists in all phases of the construction project.
- Responsible for preparing backup documentation for progress and final estimates throughout the construction project duration.
What you'll need
- High school graduate with four (4+) years experience in construction inspection, one (1+) year of which shall have been in roadway or bridge construction inspection.
- AAS Civil Engineering Technology plus two (2+) years experience; with at least one (1+) year roadway construction inspection experience.
- Valid driver’s license with approved / acceptable driving history required.
- Complete the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course, and submit the mandatory Certification of Course Completion form (for structures projects).
- Position requires a minimum of 40 hours a week with the possibility of overtime (Hourly).
- Ability to work in a team environment.
