CertainTeed is looking for a Senior Research Engineer to help improve the sustainability, performance, energy efficiency, and appeal, of homes and buildings through research, design, and development of new building products and processes.

This role will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of experts in material science & engineering focusing on new product and process development.
Keeping sustainability at the heart of our objectives, you’ll manage a project related to alternative gypsum sources to support Saint-Gobain ambition to become carbon neutral by 2050.
As a Senior Research Engineer, you will be responsible for managing alternative gypsum raw material projects.
Functions and responsibilities will include :
- Facilitate the development and implementation of new gypsum sources, separation techniques & calcination.
- Develop internal calcination process competency to transform gypsum into plaster, which includes the set-up of a lab-scale milling and calcination process, raw material qualification, and separation techniques.
- Collaborate with the internal CertainTeed teams : R&D, EHS, purchasing category manager, process team mining and operation team, and external partners : 3rd party companies, universities, and consultants.

BS Degree with a minimum of 7+ years’ experience or MS with 3+ years of experience plus demonstrated technical judgment / accomplishments or an entry-level Ph.
D. in Engineering, Material Science, or other related technical disciplines
- Understanding of inorganic and gypsum chemistry, separation process of impurities, and wastewater regulation and permitting is a plus.
