Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Boston based Underwriting Affairs Manager.
In this dynamic role, you will serve as the global point-of-contact and subject matter expert for Underwriting processes with a focus to promote, align and deliver underwriting workflows that are as consistent as possible across our multiple product lines.
Specific responsibilities are outlined below.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Liaise between Underwriting, Operations, and IT teams to drive underwriting business needs throughout the organization’s underwriting process and systems including product and regional expansions development and testing of product expansion.
- Work with stakeholders across all functions to ensure process alignment with the rest of the organization.
- Identify and promote transition of tasks from underwriting to our external partner to improve operations efficiencies.
- Engage with Operations to implement and communicate appropriate underwriting process changes resulting from system changes.
- Partner with the enterprise reporting team to identify and implement reporting efficiencies.
- Lead the team that assists in the vetting of new underwriting initiatives, products, and process differences with the Chief Underwriting teams, Lines of Business and Underwriters.
- Maintain and enhance the Forms Library across all product lines.
- Point of contact for Internal Audit.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience :
- 5+ year experience in the global property casualty insurance industry, preferably in underwriting or operations.
- 2+ year of management experience required.
- Excellent project management skills to prioritize and manage resources for multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task while balancing diverse priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders and subject matter experts.
- Adept at rapidly responding to changes in priorities and deadlines.
