Software Performance Quality Engineer - Specialist
This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and executing comprehensive testing strategies to identify performance defects, verify functionality, and maintain a high standard of product performance excellence.
The role monitors testing progress, analyzes results, and makes informed decisions based on testing outcomes. The role ensures the delivery of software performance that meets user expectations and industry standards, by collaborating closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Designs quality assurance and test processes for subsystems of end-user applications, systems software, and performance running on hardware, local, networked, and Internet-based platforms.
- Analyzes performance design and determines test scripts, coding, automation, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of overall architecture of product or solution.
- Writes and executes complete performance testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application.
- Identifies and debugs, and creates solutions for performance issues with code and integration into software and firmware architecture.
- Performs code reviews and participates in design discussions to identify potential performance quality issues.
- Analyzes performance testing processes and suggests improvements for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of QA activities.
- Leads projects with performance software quality assurance engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable and cost-effective testing and quality assurance solutions for assigned applications portion or subsystem.
- Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding performance test status, project progress, and issue resolution.
- Represents the software quality assurance performance team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.
Education & Experience Recommended
- Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
- Typically has 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in software quality assurance, test harnesses and QA focused tools, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets.
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $79150 - $121900 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and / or equity.
