EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems division for our Gaithersburg, MD office.
This is an exciting position where the candidate will be involved in system design and definition of air interface for next generation LEO / MEO / GEO satellite communication systems.
Candidate will be instrumental in designing and developing innovative solutions to serve customers in fixed, aeronautical, land-mobile and maritime domains.
RESPONSIBILITIES : Analyze system requirements and develop system architectures and solutions to meet customer requirements.
Develop subsystem requirements, specifications, and technical evaluationsDefine scheduling algorithms to meet QoS requirementsConduct link layer and upper layer simulations, including link adaptation and power controlAdapt 3GPP protocols to work efficiently in satellite environmentsDevelop constellation modeling and analyses for LEO / MEO / GEO satellite systems and conduct end-to-end performance analyses.
Document detailed designs and present them internally and to external customersREQUIREMENTS : Master's degree in electrical engineering or related field10+ years expertise in wireless communications systems theory, analysis and protocols5+ years of experience in end-to-end system design of wireless systems and protocols.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : PhD in electrical engineeringStrong analytical skills and modeling skills for evaluating performance in LEO / MEO / GEO systemsExperience with OPNET / OMNET / OMNEST and MATLAB simulation toolsStrong familiarity with 3GPP 4G and 5G protocolsFamiliarity design of scheduling algorithms to meet QoS requirements.
Must be comfortable with physical layer aspects of the design and be able to work in a cross-disciplined framework and come up with cross-layer hybrid solutionsWill be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.#H#LI-EM1
