Job Description
Title : Maintenance Technician with Machining Experience
Department(s) : Lab
Reports to : Operations Manager
Status : Full-Time, Hourly Employee on-site position.
Shift : Monday through Thursday, 6 : 00 a.m. to 3 : 30 p.m.
No relocation will be provided.
Job Summary :
The Maintenance Technician performs research activities and other tasks as necessary in a laboratory and clean room environment.
The Maintenance Technician assists in the operation and maintenance of laboratory and ultra-high vacuum thin film deposition equipment.
They have knowledge of common and special tools, concepts, practices, and procedures used in a laboratory, clean room, and machine shop environment.
They design and fabricate fixtures used in the manufacturing processes with a machinist background. Performs troubleshooting and repair of coating equipment and general maintenance of the facility.
Works under immediate supervision; and reports to Lab Operations Manager.
This role requires the successful candidate to be subject to ITAR restrictions and regulations, including a US Citizenship requirement.
The applicant must also be able to obtain and maintain an interim and final government security clearance, including meeting the requirements of a drug-free workplace.
The security clearance process requires applicants to complete a standard security questionnaire and undergo a thorough background investigation for adjudication.
PRIME RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance of facility and thin film deposition equipment in a cleanroom environment.
Support project engineers by designing and fabricating fixtures for product deposition, cleaning, and inspection.
Cleaning vacuum coater deposition machines.
Must be able to lift 30 lbs over your head.
Other duties as assigned by Technical or Operations staff.
Utilizes hand tools and inspection equipment necessary to perform duties, i.e., micrometers, calipers, indicators, height and plug gauges, etc.
Working knowledge of cutting tools and machine tools.
Recognizes problems as they occur and brings them to the Lead person's attention.
Makes recommendations for correction of problems.
Assists in training of less skilled operators as required.
Suggests ways to improve process, quality, and working times.
Inspects own work to ensure that the completed work meets all specifications.
High attention to detail and the ability to articulate findings and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment are required.
The successful candidate will be part of a cohesive team with common goals and should possess a willingness and interest to learn about aerospace materials.
EDUCATION / PRIOR EXPERIENCE
Associate degree or a minimum of two years of experience in a related engineering environment.
2 years minimum experience Machinist background with manual equipment such as lathe and mills.
Familiarity with Microsoft (MS) Windows operating system and MS Office products.
Experience in working with aerospace, automotive or medical-grade materials is a plus.
Prior experience involving understanding of Aerospace Materials Specifications (AMS), ASTM, AS, MIL, NAS specifications is a plus.
Prior experience with vacuum deposition equipment processes and troubleshooting is a plus.
Setup, operate and troubleshoot CNC equipment a plus.
