This is a 25% Graduate Research Assistant position focused on engagement and public perceptions of biomining as an emerging technology with the potential to address the need for critical minerals for batteries.

You will be supervised by Prof. Elise Harrington at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. There will be some travel required for this position (while we will travel as a team, you must have the flexibility in your schedule to accommodate travel within Minnesota).

Responsibilities

You will work closely with Prof. Harrington to conduct interviews focused on the use of new technologies for mining. This will include drafting interview questions, conducting interviews, and generating interview transcripts.

You will be expected to come to regular research team meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a UMN graduate degree program
  • Demonstrated experience conducting literature reviews and qualitative research
  • Excellent time management and communication skills (written and verbal)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with community engagement and community asset mapping
  • Demonstrated interest in creatively exploring how to communicate technical issues related to climate and energy to a broader audience
