The School of Art + Art History (SA+AH) in the College of the Arts (COTA) seeks an Assistant in Undergraduate Advising. This dynamic position supports students in successfully navigating the undergraduate experience from prospective student inquiries all the way through graduation and alumni relations.

Applicants need to have an understanding of college student development and be familiar with National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) standards for academic advisors.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations and be detail-oriented with a proven ability to prioritize responsibilities.

The successful candidate will also be able to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, knowing when to bring in collaborators.

Responsibilities : This position will work alongside the current academic advisor to carry out the diverse portfolio of responsibilities of the SA+AH advising office.

This position requires occasional participation in job-related activities outside of traditional work hours.

  • Advise undergraduate students in UF and SA+AH on academic requirements and policies, as well as students seeking admission to SA+AH majors.
  • Advise students in the development and achievement of their academic and career goals.
  • Work with multiple special populations : academically at-risk students, dual-degree students, PaCE students, transfer students, and a variety of minor and certificate students.
  • Lead approval of minors, PaCE transitions, schedule adjusts after drop / add, and SA+AH annual scholarship processes.
  • Participate in UF’s orientation programs for freshmen and new transfer students.
  • Participate in SA+AH, COTA, and UF programs and initiatives related to student support and recruitment.
  • Provide leadership in coordinating with SA+AH Faculty and COTA to support alumni tracking and improve alumni connections to forge stronger connections between members of the SA+AH community both before and after graduation.
  • Provide leadership in supporting diverse student populations.
  • Assist in management of the SA+AH Student Ambassadors program.
  • Serve as a liaison to other schools and centers in the college and other offices across campus.
  • Improve and adapt content, processes, and procedures to better serve SA+AH students, faculty, and staff.
  • Contribute service to the School, College, and University communities.
