The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals and objectives.

This position assists in contributing to the hospital’s philosophy, objectives, educational and Quality Improvement efforts, while providing supervision to the nursing staff assigned to his / her unit.

• Document patient information and nursing care in the provision of nursing services.
• Provide education to patients and families based on their identified needs and limitations, such as, communication, interpersonal and social skills as well as basic principles of physical health.
• Prioritize and formulate a plan of care based on patient assessment and according to policy.

Qualifications

Education : Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required. An Associate degree is required; Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Experience : A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility required.

Licensure : Currently licensed to practice by the California State Board of Nursing.

Additional Requirements : Thorough knowledge of TJC, HCFA, OSHA requirements, and state regulatory requirements. Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications.

Also required is current CPR certification, successful completion of Handle with Care (HWC) and Verbal De-escalation training, as well as training in the appropriate use of seclusion and restraint prior to assisting in these procedures.
