Description of Service Opportunity :

The CPS Summer Learning Camps are a four-week (8 : 30-2 : 00) summer learning experience for selected scholars in present Grades K-7.

Camps will operate at the Kennedy- Longfellow, Morse School, Peabody, and Putnam Avenue Upper Schools from July 8th - August 2nd.

The Summer Art Teacher will provide grade-specific art classes on a rotating schedule throughout the week to students in the CPS SOARS! Camp, ELL Enrichment Camp and Summer Scholars program.

The CPS Summer Art teacher, under the direction of the Director of MLE, Director of MTSS, and Program Manager, will be responsible for :

Providing a fun, safe, theme-based summer learning experience that promotes high expectations for all students;

Collaborate with program principals and instructional staff to design lessons that align with district provided curriculum.

Facilitating grade appropriate art projects and activities for students.

Time :

7 : 30 a.m. 2 : 30 p.m. (teacher work day, July-August)

8 : 30 a.m. 2 : 00 p.m. (student day, July-August)

Morse / PAUS (Dual Site position) : K-4 SOARS! Camp and 5-7 Summer Scholars Program

Peabody : K-4 SOARS! Camp and K-4 English Language Learners (ELL) Camp

Minimum Requirements :

Teachers must have the ability to teach students with a range of learning needs in multi-age classrooms. MA DESE licensure in Visual Arts, English as a Second Language, and / or Moderate Disabilities preK-8 preferred.

Priority will be given to regularly appointed teachers from Cambridge Public School District.

Length of Contract : May 1 August 2, 2024

Contract Amount :

May June, 2024 : $50 per hour ($750, not to exceed 15 hours)

July August, 2024 : $50 per hour ($7,000, not to exceed 130 hours)
