Birmingham, AL Full-time Construction Engineering & Inspection 1 Position Available
Sain Associates is looking for a construction inspector to join our Infrastructure Team for a project lasting approximately 12 months.
The length of employment could extend beyond 12 months if workload allows. In this role, you will partner with a project manager to observe and document what happens on a construction site.
You will communicate throughout the day with contractors, subcontractors, and your project manager.
This position is not a typical 8-to-5 job, as you will serve as the eyes and ears of the client on the construction site.
This means if the contractor is on the site, you will need to be on the site as well. Typically, the summer is the busiest season for inspectors, and if a contractor is working overtime for a project, you will be on site during that time as well.
What does a typical day look like?
On a typical day, you may be measuring and recording quantities for pay items related to materials used and work completed.
You may also be completing concrete tests and delivering the concrete cylinders to the testing location.
In this role, it is important to accurately interpret plans and specifications to ensure the project is constructed per those requirements.
Another critical function of this job is maintaining all paperwork for the project. This includes completing a daily work report with a description of work completed that day and taking site pictures.
