The Manager of Performing Arts and Events has an in-depth working knowledge of audiovisual and lighting technology and must be adept at computer and media software.
This person is responsible for the setup, operation, and striking of all events, small to large-scale, occurring within the district organized by both internal and external stakeholders.
This person is expected to work with minimal supervision with general direction from leadership; and must be able to work independently or in teams on assigned tasks with a high degree of technical judgment, skill and expertise.
In concert settings, the Manager of Performing Arts and Events is expected to support the classroom teacher overseeing the event by facilitating their artistic and educational needs with respect to lighting, sound, and stage setup.
A comprehensive understanding of live event production is essential, including professional audio, video, lighting, cable wiring, routing, and signal protocols.
Additionally, proficiency in the alignment and calibration of audio, video, and lighting equipment is required.
This is a relational position in that it requires consistent interaction with staff, volunteers and community members. (S)he must be receptive to change, constantly striving for excellence and possess high-level communication skills.
This position requires professional completion of time sensitive tasks related to both district and community events.
Must be willing to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
Essential Duties
Develops a budget for the various spaces throughout the district.
Develops a plan for facility upgrades as it relates to the performing arts spaces.
Oversees the scheduling, approval, and staffing of all activities held within district facilities, ensuring proper coordination and compliance.
Responsibilities include reviewing and approving requests for facility use, such as external groups utilizing the auditorium.
Understands and follows the purchase order process.
Directs the preparation and clean-up / restoration of common spaces.
Supervises and / or staffs all related activities.
Respects privacy and maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
Complies with district procedures and federal / state laws when dealing with discrimination and suspected child abuse / neglect.
Performance Responsibilities
Ensures a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of advanced audiovisual and lighting equipment.
Operates and maintains all AVL systems in the district.
Troubleshoots technical issues and resolve problems quickly as they arise.
Assist with lighting and placement of lights.
Maintains a positive relationship with all staff and community members through effective and timely communication.
Collaborates with internal and external teams on the event plan prior to the event and during the event
Supervises and directs other technicians during an event.
Ensures proper security, storage, transportation, and maintenance of equipment.
Performs inventory and forecasting of equipment needs.
Records audio and maintains live streaming as requested.
Maintains the cleanliness of the stage / production areas within the district.
Understands the technical field with the ability to research and recommend the best solution to technical issues.
Completes routine and proactive testing to ensure functionality of equipment prior to use.
