Schneider Electric is seeking a dynamic individual at our Nashville TN Hub to serve as an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer responsible for delivering automation and technology improvements to our manufacturing processes across the North American Region.
In this role, using advanced technology, you will be responsible for identifying and driving improvements within the quality processes at our factories.
Candidate required to travel throughout North America 25%-50% levels with some projects requiring slightly heavier percentages.
What will you do?
- Develop & lead projects by applying 6 sigma principles to conduct process flow analysis, improve process time, improve 1st pass yield, reduce process variation, and improve process stability.
- Ownership of all new capacity investments to deploy the best manufacturing processes.
- From identified capacity gap or technology roadmap driver, develop automation solution from Best Available Techniques to provide a value-added solution.
- Develop automation concept in conjunction with Electrical / Controls counterpart and create solution specifications and budgetary targets necessary for Request For Quotation.
- Participate in quotation and supplier selection of Original Equipment Manufacturer Machine Tool Builder (internal or external)
- In partnership with Automation Project Manager, provide technical oversight and adherence to project timeline to deliver equipment to targeted timeline.
- Perform Original Equipment Manufacturer Machine Tool Builder Site Acceptance Test and validation of process equipment performance prior to equipment shipment.
- Support process equipment commissioning at Factory site as required.
- Perform Factory Acceptance Test once process equipment has been commissioned at the SE Factory and ensure all supplier contractual agreements are met.
- Ensure all appropriate process equipment project documentation is captured and stored in the appropriate digital system for knowledge retention.
- Collaborate with Global Deployment and Industrialization teams in the evolution of the technology applied and documented Best Available Techniques.
- Partner with Manufacturing Plants in the construction and evolution of the site technology roadmap that delivers technical productivity and supports profits & loss improvement on the product offers.
- Continuously improvement installed base of automation and test equipment used for assembly and testing of SE products in North America factories.
- Upgrade and replacement of legacy automation systems to current offers if the process architectures is sustainable and the investments drive solid financial payback.
- Provide direct troubleshooting support and training for local plant resources.
- Identify and implement improvement projects regarding various industrial manufacturing processes. Productivity improvement will be highly regarded.
- Provide advanced manufacturing support for technologies that support Smart Factory deployment. Those technologies include :
- Digital Manufacturing-Smart Factory / Machine Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) / Data Capture and Analytics.
- Collaborative Robotics.
- Stage Gate Visualization Deployment.
- Augmented / Virtual Reality Applications.
What qualifications will make you successful?
- Bachelor of Science with a Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or other STEM) Major from an accredited University or equivalent is required.
- 5+ years of experience in Mechanical / Tooling / Manufacturing / Industrialization Engineering Experience in an Automated Industrial Environment.
- Previous experience in developing quality processes including conducting process flow analysis, improving process time, 1st pass yield, reduction of process variation, and improving process stability is a plus.
- Direct experience using NLA (new line architecture), Line architecture methodology (LADM), and Method Time Management (MTM).
- Proficiency in Safety Engineering with exposure to Automated Machinery Safety.
- Hands-on industrial automation experience : hydraulics, pneumatics, servo motion, robotics, AGV / SGV's, metal forming, resistance welding, Z Axis assembly, parts feeding, functional testing, labeling, packaging
- Pro-E / CREO proficiency.
- Certified Machinery Safety Expert (CMSE) or other Safety Engineering Certification is a plus.
