The Opportunity

The Product Investment Actuary will analyze and assess the risk of new designs and existing products with a particular focus on options and investments backing liabilities.

As a Product Investment Actuary, you will coordinate with the Product and Pricing group and the Enterprise Risk Management group at MassMutual Ascend.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of new annuity products (Registered Index-Linked, Fixed Indexed, and Fixed) and riders (Income and Death Benefit) and management of existing products
• Build detailed, comprehensive pricing and risk analyses for the investment components of new and existing product designs
• Propose and implement pricing methodologies to appropriately model options and other invested assets and their associated risks
• Explore the impacts of historical and potential tail scenarios on pricing returns and renewal rates, and propose solutions to mitigate unfavorable impacts such as volatility
• Review new strategies and their potential impacts on pricing returns and renewal rates
• Serve as liaison for Enterprise Risk Management and Pricing on hedging, new product investment profiles, and other areas as needed
• Translate complex concepts / analysis into a simplified, easy to understand results
• Demonstrate results are in line with corporate standards
• Anticipate internal / external business challenges and / or regulatory issues
• Collaborate across MassMutual Ascend Product and Pricing, Enterprise Risk Management, Financial Actuarial, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Legal and IT;

MassMutual Corporate Actuarial and Business Analytics, Enterprise Risk Management and Investment Management; and third-party relationships such as custom index licensors

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience after attaining ASA
• Experience with option pricing and asset analysis
• Strong analytic skills
• Working knowledge of annuity pricing
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and ownership of results

Ideal Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of Registered Index-Linked Annuities, Fixed Indexed Annuities, and Fixed Deferred Annuities
• Extensive knowledge of option pricing, hedging and asset analysis
• Experience with Prophet modeling software
• Ideally have obtained FSA
• 5+ years of experience after obtaining FSA
• CFA Charterholder designation
