JOB GOAL :
The Child Nutrition Coordinator will perform a full range of professional duties to review with emphasis in employee training and general operations.
The selected candidate for this position will report to the Director of Child Nutrition and will assist in the supervision of school-based leaders or as assigned, and provide guidance and assistance to Child Nutrition staff as required.
The successful individual will have a strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws with regards to Child Nutrition Program.
In addition, the successful candidate will be a team player able to work independently, make accurate decisions, commit to quality and integrity, and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
This position requires monitoring and reviewing Child Nutrition Programs such as, but not limited to, the School Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program, Afterschool Snack Program, At-Risk Supper Program, and Summer programs.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Twelve (12) Month (245 days) contract - GRADE 115 - $45,641 to $79,302 plus benefits package. NOTE : Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on experience. FLSA : Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Foods and Nutrition, Home Economics, Food Service Management, or closely related field from an accredited college or university required.
- Minimum three years’ experience in school nutrition including three years in an operational administrative / managerial capacity.
- Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing multiple campus food service facilities including conducting on-site reviews district-wide.
- Highly detail orientated; self-directed; able to work in a fast-paced environment; skills in problem-solving and decision making
- Strong oral and written communications skills; and an ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to produce routine reports and correspondence as needed, including monthly compliance reports. Completes and submits required reports on dates due.
- Experience in computer operations and suites and a strong operational knowledge of Child Nutrition accountability software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Provides supervision in conjunction with the Child Nutrition Supervisors in reviewing, monitoring, and evaluating the performance of Cafeteria Managers.
- Assist and Provide training and development to Cafeteria Managers, in conjunction with the Child Nutrition Supervisors, that align with USDA Child Nutrition Program regulations and guidelines
- Perform and conduct all administrative site reviews for each school to determine the efficiency of operation, compliance and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Ensure all food safety inspection deficiencies are addressed competently and in a timely manner.
- Assist in menu planning and development with the goal of increasing customer satisfaction and participation.
- Monitors school food production / forecasting; checks for recipe and menu accuracy, sanitation and food safety, portion control, and production record accuracy.
- Strive to achieve established goals for food and labor by utilizing labor and resources efficiently and provide assistance to staff as needed to ensure the financial integrity of each kitchen by monitoring MPLH monthly, informing Director of adjustments to staffing as needed.
- Provides general assistance to Director with training, oversees staff development and monthly managers meeting, summer school and other special programs as assigned.
Coordinates, along with Director Back to School Training.
- Creates and updates Manager Handbook, Employee Handbook and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Plan.
- Oversees the daily operations of the program in the absence of the director.
- Responds to after-hours emergencies as needed.
