Major Responsibilities :

• Prepares patient for exams as required and insures patient comfort and modesty at all times.
• Participates in transfer of patients if needed, positions and instructs patients regarding the procedure.
• Follows all department established and appropriate policies and procedures.
• Provides protection according to department policy to unaffected areas of the body from radiation exposure.
• Calculates and selects proper technical factors as appropriate to the procedure.
• Evaluates the images to assure that they contain proper identification and are of diagnostic quality.
• Operates imaging equipment according to specific diagnostic procedure.
• Monitors patients receiving contrast for adverse reactions.
• Assists physicians in the performance of specialized examinations.
• Ensures that images, examination requisitions and other related records are properly completed.
• Maintains work area in clean and orderly condition.
• Understands and practices ALARA principles of Radiation Protection.

Position Qualifications :

License / Certification / Education :

• RTR licensure in the Commonwealth Massachusetts.
• ARRT certification in Radiology is required within 12 months from date of hire.
• BLS certification.
• Some specialty modalities may require additional formal training and certification.

Experience / Skills :

Maintain all area specific CEUs for ARRT, DPH according to regulation.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions :

Work is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in a normal patient care environment.
