A law firm in Fullerton, CA is seeking a Managing Attorney with extensive experience in consumer collection litigation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Lead Attorneys in multiple states, managing legal operations, and fostering a high-performance culture.

This role involves setting expectations, driving results, and ensuring compliance with professional conduct standards. The Managing Attorney will collaborate with Firm Management to monitor performance data, streamline processes, and develop staff, while also maintaining strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities :

Leadership & Management :

  • Oversee and manage the Lead Attorneys for assigned states, ensuring efficient legal operations and litigation performance.
  • Set and maintain a high-performance culture within assigned offices.
  • Supervise and develop attorney and non-attorney staff, ensuring adherence to professional conduct rules and fostering a productive, friendly work environment.
  • Provide training and mentorship to Lead Attorneys and other legal staff, guiding the preparation of legal pleadings and court proceedings.

Performance Management :

  • Collaborate with Firm Management to analyze production data, track practice trends, and proactively address caseload needs and performance goals.
  • Regularly meet with Firm Management to assess office needs, production requirements, and performance goals.
  • Extract and analyze data sets to reduce costs, improve processes, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop expertise with client scorecards and lead efforts to meet and exceed legal performance goals, securing more market share for the firm.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze performance reports for Firm Management.

Client Relations & Communication :

  • Participate in client calls, ensuring timely handling of client demands and business needs.
  • Communicate with clients responsively and professionally to maintain and develop strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with Firm Management to address legal performance issues, corrective actions, and client demands.
  • Research and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations, providing legal opinions for Firm Management review.

Compliance & Continuous Education :

  • Stay current on local, state, and federal law changes, court rules, and procedures by attending continuing education classes, webinars, and seminars.
  • Ensure that all team members follow regulatory frameworks, client requirements, and professional standards.
  • Maintain expertise in consumer protection laws and the legal regulatory framework of the industry.
  • Manage a team of 20+ employees, ensuring the effective handling of legal operations and the development of team members.
  • Identify and recruit top talent, building individual and management capabilities across the team.
  • Proactively identify and resolve personnel issues, ensuring the success of team members and maintaining high morale.

Job Requirements : Experience :

Experience :

  • Licensed attorney with 4+ years of experience in consumer collection litigation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team of 20+ employees, including Lead Attorneys and support staff.
  • Advanced knowledge of the legal regulatory framework of the consumer collection industry.
  • In-depth understanding of state and federal consumer protection laws and compliance standards.

Skills :

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to extract and analyze data to improve processes and reduce costs.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to manage client relationships and communicate firm expectations.
  • Proven ability to manage and oversee legal operations, ensuring compliance with rules of professional conduct.
  • Ability to develop and mentor legal staff, providing training and guidance for the execution of legal pleadings and court proceedings.

Education & Certifications :

  • Juris Doctor (JD) :
  • Graduation from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission :
  • Must be licensed to practice law in California.
