Minimum Qualifications
- Associate or Technical degree in Climate Control Technology and / or Control System Technology or an equivalent combination of education and / or experience.
- A minimum of four (4) years’ experience with HVAC and / or hands-on Direct Digital Control (DDC) and temperature control experience.
- A minimum of four (4) years’ experience in DDC programming and / or DDC commissioning.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others.
- Excellent oral and written skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Willing to provide remote assistance if necessary.
- Attend meetings as necessary in regards to BAS issues.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University by the University’s insurance carrier.
- Physical demands of the position require occasional balancing, bending, driving, grasping, kneeling / squatting, leg / foot movement, manual dexterity, reaching, and walking / running.
Requires frequent sitting and standing.
Environmental exposures include chemical exposure, confined space, congested area, exposure to dust / smoke / fumes / odors / grease / oil, exposure to electrical hazards, exposure to extreme temperatures, hazardous substances, hearing, inadequate lighting, noise, sight, slippery surfaces, smell, tactile / touch, using power equipment, vibration, working around moving machinery, working outside and working at heights.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Broad knowledge of HVAC mechanical / electrical systems.
- Experience working with Automated Logic Corporation (ALC), Honeywell, Building Automation Systems (BAS) and integration experience with BACnet, Modbus and LON protocols.
- Understanding of how to calibrate and analyze pneumatic controls.
- Demonstrated skills to assemble as-built documentation.
All Qualifications Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and / or experience deemed comparable and / or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.
Position Details Position Purpose Provide HVAC group assistance in diagnosing, repairing and calibrating DDC, and HVAC controls.
Maintain schedules for all BAS systems as necessary. Work with control vendors to assist and ensure scope of work is followed.
Review and edit control sequences and co-ordinate / implement changes with BAS vendor so they match HVAC system requirements.
Maintain BAS as-built documentation. Provide DDC and other control commissioning as required.
Provide BAS training to new Facilities Management employees as necessary.
