Proofpoint is looking to hire an experienced Senior Payroll Manager located in our Sunnyvale, CA headquarters. We are looking for a highly motivated professional with exceptional customer service skills to join us.
The right candidate will become a member of our Finance team and must have the ability to work independently, identify, analyze, resolve process and system related problems, develop root cause analysis, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
Must be a self-starter, flexible and organized to be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
This role demands meticulous attention to detail and the ability to adopt a holistic approach to problem-solving. It requires a strong sense of responsibility and a keen willingness to learn and adapt in an energetic environment.
The ideal candidate must have the knowledge and skillset to accurately process all areas of payroll and provide timely and accurate financial reporting emphasizing General Ledger / Payroll reconciliation.

This role will report to the Director, Global Payroll.
Your day-to-day tasks
Responsibilities include but not limited to assisting in :
Responsible for the Americas payroll team in all duties associated with the accurate and timely processing of Proofpoint’s U.
S., Canada, and U.S. Territories (Northern Mariana Islands Saipan)
- Responsible for payroll analysis and fluxes, providing detailed support for MoM variances, etc. in the finalization process of the payroll cycle.
- Responsible for the integration validation of Data Bridge interface from HCM system into ADP Workforce Now payroll system to ensure data integrity from employee data system of record to payroll environment.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal partners (Corporate Stock, Accounting, FP&A, Tax, HR, Benefits, Internal Controls, etc.
and external vendors. Serve as the primary point of contact for the North America end-to-end payroll process.
- Identify, recommend, and implement enhancements to payroll processes, systems, and analytical capabilities, streamlining operations for greater efficiency.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of US tax regulations, benefit changes and labor laws that impact payroll processing and compliance.
Ensure federal, state, and local payroll tax jurisdictions are adhered to.
- Providing support and assisting in all U.S. payroll related reconciliation and financial close tasks, working closely with our internal Payroll Analyst and Finance Accounting team.
- Provide analysis of payroll and related costs to identify trends and to ensure accurate reporting; Ad-hoc projects, reporting and account reconciliations, assist in research projects, preparation of management reports and other assignments as needed to support Finance.
- Participate in the Quarter and Year / End reconciliation and audit of Wage & Tax registers, Statements of Deposits, ensuring all payroll related filings are done timely and accurately.
- Assist in annual audits including, but not limited to Workers’ Compensation, 401k Non-Discrimination and True Up processes.
This may include coordinating with external auditors as needed.
- Ensure operational and SOX controls are properly performed within the payroll process.
- Create or modify custom reports in ADP Reporting, including derived fields to assist with audit, specific requests from Finance Team or special projects.
- Assists payroll team with time and attendance processing and interface with payroll.
- Address internal accounting and financial questions and tax agency inquiries by analyzing and interpreting data.
- Assist in the preparation of the GL entries, account reconciliations and accruals.
- Assist the Payroll Analyst in reconciling, maintaining, and transmitting deduction data files for FSA, HSA & 401K plans.
- Assist and support the payroll team with employee related payroll questions and inquiries.
Qualifications
- BS / BA degree, with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance
- 8-10+ years of experience processing payroll both domestically and in a global environment
- CPP required.
- ERP experience a plus
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, critical thinking and prioritization skills
- Extensive working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now for US and Canada, including report development writing in ADP Reporting.
System implementation of ADP Workforce Now a plus
- Working knowledge of Workday HCM and Workday Timekeeping
- Excel Advanced skills a must

Base Pay Range : 106,750.00 - 167,750.00 USD
All other cities and states excluding those listed above :
Base Pay Range : 96,320.00 - 151,360.00 USD
