Job Title : Staff Accountant - (Hybrid)
Location : Grand Rapids, MI
Job Summary :
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the accounting team by performing a variety of tasks, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records.
This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities :
- Financial Reporting : Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Account Reconciliation : Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- General Ledger Maintenance : Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Accounts Payable / Receivable : Process invoices, manage accounts payable and receivable, and ensure timely payments and collections.
- Month-End Close : Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and adjustments.
- Budgeting and Forecasting : Provide support in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances, and providing insights to management.
- Audit Support : Assist in internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Compliance : Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ad Hoc Reporting : Prepare various ad hoc financial reports as required by management.
Qualifications :
- Education : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience : 2-9 years of experience in accounting or a related field is preferred. Experience in a similar role in Grand Rapids, MI, is a plus.
- Skills :
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Knowledge of local tax regulations and compliance requirements specific to Grand Rapids, MI.
Working Conditions :
- This position typically operates in a professional office environment in Grand Rapids, MI.
- May require occasional overtime, especially during month-end or year-end closing periods.
Salary Range : $50,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
