Job Summary :
The Shop Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and recharging fire extinguishers and suppression systems to ensure compliance with safety codes and standards.
This role involves ensuring that all equipment is up to date and functioning properly.
Key Responsibilities :
- Inspect, maintain, test, and tag portable fire extinguishers.
- Recharge and maintain suppression system tanks and wheeled unit extinguishers.
- Ensure a productive workflow, handling 6-8 units per hour.
- Comply with state and federal safety regulations.
- Complete all necessary paperwork accurately.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications :
- City of Portland Certificate of Fitness within 90 days of employment.
- Knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
- Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 75 lbs.
- Comfort working in tight spaces and at heights up to 40 feet.
- Ability to stand for long periods and travel between sites.
- Visual acuity to accurately read labels and other small print.
- Respiratory fitness to work in environment with dust, etc. PPE available and provided.
Pay Rate + Benefits :
- $20-$22 an hour.
