Position Overview :
The Hostler at Liberty Tire Recycling is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the yard and to and from loading docks.
This role is crucial for ensuring timely loading and unloading of materials, maintaining smooth operations within the yard, and supporting the transportation team.

Key Responsibilities :
- Trailer Movement : Safely operate a yard truck to move trailers within the yard and between loading docks, ensuring proper alignment for loading and unloading.
- Inspection : Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trailers to ensure they are roadworthy and comply with DOT regulations.
Report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
- Loading / Unloading Support : Assist production team and transportation team with the positioning of trailers for loading and unloading operations.
- Yard Organization : Maintain an organized and orderly yard by properly positioning trailers and equipment. Keep track of trailer locations and movements within the yard.
- Safety Compliance : Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Communication : Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and drivers to ensure efficient yard operations and resolve any issues that arise.
- Record Keeping : Accurately log trailer movements, inspections, and any incidents that occur during shifts.
Qualifications :
- Experience : Previous experience as a Hostler or yard driver in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
- Licenses : A valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus, but not required.
- Skills : Strong attention to detail, ability to operate yard trucks and trailers safely, excellent communication skills, and a good understanding of DOT regulations.
- Physical Requirements : Ability to lift and move heavy objects, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Working Conditions :
- Environment : This role is primarily outdoors, requiring work in all weather conditions.
- Hours : May include overtime and weekends as needed to meet operational demands
