Reinstatement Eligible : Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis.
Transfer Eligible : one year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 22 or higher and eligible for transfer under Section 70.

Open competitive minimum qualifications (provided for 70.4 transfer eligible candidates) : Possession of a New York State Professional Landscape Architect's License with current registration.
Duties Description The incumbent will be responsible for performing a full range of landscape architecture activities in the Division of Operations Bureau of Design & Construction.
They will manage and oversee all landscape architecture work performed across all nine Regions of the Department. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Independently completing site / facility designs as a project manager, estimates and master plans based on the end user experience and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility elements;
- Making site visits statewide, possibly overnight, assessing conditions, taking measurements, and discussing landscape alternatives with DEC program and permitting staff to develop and refine project alternatives;
- Managing multiple simultaneous projects in their entirety, coordinating permits between DEC, the Army Corps, the Adirondack Park Agency, and applicable permits, meeting independently with permitting staff;
- Selecting appropriate, native, and low maintenance plantings and seed mixes with an emphasis on sustainability;
- Coordinating with engineering staff to incorporate their technical designs to function cohesively with the overall site plan and character;
- Preparing and approving agency guidelines, standardized specifications and stamping landscape architecture design components of contract documents;
- Designing and directing program and / or contractor staff in completing successful landscape installation and maintenance projects of all sizes;
- Working with construction inspection staff to achieve compliance with contract documents, deadlines, and budgets, while simultaneously minimizing facility disruption;
- Producing project estimates, determining landscape architecture item component availability, reviewing and approving contract submittals
- Performing an independent technical review, providing comments and making recommendations on landscape architecture elements of consultant submissions for multiple simultaneous term consultant projects;
- Reviewing contractor payment submissions, and reviewing contract change order submissions for technical compliance with project requirements;
- Coordinating and performing site topographical surveys at the start of projects.
