Growth in the US West Transportation Market is a critical component of GHD’s overall strategy in the Americas!
The US West Region is looking to bring onboard a motivated Senior Transportation Business Development Leader to partner with our Market Leader and other Business Development Specialists to advance the expansion of GHD’s Highways and Roads practice across Southern California.
GHD’s Highways Roads Bridges (HRB) Business Group (BG) is a major pillar of our overall transportation market offerings, that also include Maritime and Coastal, Rail and Transit, and Mobility and Places.
Our HRB practice is delivering work for key transportation agencies and municipalities across Southern California from five office locations (LA, Irvine, Long Beach, San Diego).
Projects include highways, interchanges, local roads, roundabouts, trails / active transportation, bridges, and other related improvements.
GHD has exposure to these opportunities through the Federal, State, Municipal, and private sectors.
This position includes active participation and opportunity to support the vision for growth within the US West Region and the company.
This position will be based out of one of our Southern California offices.
Specific responsibilities in this role will include :
Strategy and Business Planning
- Support the development of annual tactical plans aligned with the overall strategic plan for the region.
- Develop client capture plans through strong client knowledge, market insights, and strategic planning.
Winning Work
- Support the initiation and effective relationships with key clients in Southern California such as LA Metro, OCTA, RCTC, SBCTA, VCTC, and SANDAG.
- Collaborate with the Highway, Roads, and Bridges (HRB) Business Group to help position for opportunities with Caltrans, Transportation Agencies, and local County & City agencies.
- Collaborate with the Regional Transportation Market Lead, Sector Lead(s), and other Business Group Leads on growth of opportunities supporting the HRB in Southern California.
- Participate in visibility activities including conferences as appropriate.
- Seamlessly collaborate with leadership and resources across GHD to help bring solutions to local clients.
- Support the development of scope of work packages, budgets, and progress proposals in accordance with the GHD Limits of Authority.
People :
- Purpose-led communications with other Business Groups to inspire the team and enhance the Employee Experience (EX)
- Through Business Development efforts, mentor staff within the Business Group(s)
- Collaborate with Market Leaders, Service Line Leaders and Project Managers within and outside the Region on business development
- Embrace the One GHD philosophy by collaborating with teams worldwide to share capabilities and project opportunities
- Inspiring and mentoring assembled Business Development / project pursuit teams
Skills, Experience and Qualification :
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven ability to develop, mentor and lead professional technical staff
- Experience with business development, capture planning, and marketing skills
- Exceptional track record with project execution related transportation projects
- Flexible and able to meet challenging deadlines
- A self-starter with sound judgment and decisiveness

Salary Range : $165,000-$245,000 based on experience. and location
