Building Maintenance Engineer

We're looking for a courteous, detail-oriented maintenance engineer to provide our guests with a five-star experience. You'll be in charge of overseeing the property’s overall upkeep and carrying out routine processes to make it fully functioning, pleasurable, and safe.

$55,000 - $65,000

Responsibilities :

• Complete all work orders and fix maintenance problems promptly
• Adhere to all engineering safety norms and procedures
• Use a wide range of tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, indicators, edge finders, drills, wrenches, and additional equipment
• Manage the hotel's machinery and preventive maintenance procedures
• Keep an open line of communication with other team members and staff
• Develop a plan for completing routine and preventive maintenance and renovations; coordinate work with hotel department managers
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in electrical / mechanical / plumbing systems and other hotel equipment
• Resolve maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders to prioritize and schedule work
• Identify and select vendors as appropriate
• Create a safe environment for guests and employees by ensuring that the hotel is maintained in accordance with safety standards
• Serve as project manager for hotel renovations
• Personally respond to both customer and hotel staff reports of non-functioning equipment when necessary
• Thoroughly complete maintenance logs
• Evaluate forecasted business and projects and schedule staff accordingly
• Ensure the hotel adheres to all regulatory and safety standards by meeting with government and insurance inspectors and taking corrective actions as needed
• Keep all mechanical, electrical, and structural blueprints up to date
• Ensure that staff is up to date on certifications and the training necessary to maintain operating systems
• Prepare engineering and housekeeping budget; monitor actual versus budgeted expenses and take corrective actions when necessary
• Manage the operation of the housekeeping, public space, and laundry areas
• Recruit and select qualified candidates for Maintenance
• Provide employees with the orientation and training needed to understand expectations and perform job responsibilities
• Communicate performance expectations and provide employees with ongoing feedback
• Provide employees with coaching and counseling as needed to achieve performance objectives and reach their fullest potential
• Participate in the development of business strategies for the facilities and for the rooms division which are aligned with the overall objectives of the hotel
• Other functions as assigned by the Hotel General Manager

Qualifications :

• Ability to use web-based software, including facilities maintenance software preferred
• This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent GED
• Driver’s license and outstanding driving record is necessary
• Physical requirements- able to lift up to 50lb constantly. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions including seasonally hot or cold temperatures and inclement weather while performing the duties of this job
• The employee is frequently required to walk and stand for long periods of time

• Professional or Technical Expertise- Demonstrate the ability to apply technical, professional, or product expertise to everyday hotel situations
• Minimum 3 years in a hotel (or similar industry) maintenance supervisory role experience is required
