Senior Accountant

CommuniCare Advantage is currently recruiting a Senior Accountant to manage the books and records and ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reports.

The Senior Accountant will also supervise and mentor an Accountant.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure timely month end close processing and financial statement review and distribution.
• Create and review reports, analyze variances, and distribute to management.
• Perform and / or review monthly account reconciliations and various accounts payable reconciliations.
• Manage AP relationship with Corporate Services.
• Oversight of GAAP to STAT entries and tracking.
• Direct NAIC Quarterly and Annual Filings information with external partner.
• Takes point in collecting support and tracking during various audits.
• Other accounting projects and functions as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare insurance environment.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

• Must be knowledgeable in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), understanding of Statutory Reporting (STAT) beneficial.
• Must have the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Must be able to deal tactfully with team members and managers.
• Excellent Excel skills are required.
• Workday experience a plus.
• Superior organizational skills, strong task management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Also important are excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both internal and external customers, and the ability to work in a team oriented environment.
• A positive attitude, with a high degree of ethics and personal integrity, as well as confidentiality, are traits needed to be successful in this role.
