Franklin Companies is a privately held real estate developer, property manager, and construction specialist in the multifamily and senior housing industry.
Because of our continued growth, we are creating a new position for a Corporate Director of Business Development. This role does not require relocation to San Antonio;
however, candidate should be located in a major Texas market (Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Austin) or another major market where Franklin has the capability to expand.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the President of Franklin Companies, this person will join a team of professionals involved in the development, construction and management of our multifamily and senior housing communities.
This position will be responsible for interfacing with brokers, owners, and developers to nurture relationships and identify potential 3rd party management opportunities.
Essential Duties
Professionally represent Franklin Companies to contacts within the multifamily and senior housing community (owners, developers, etc.
who may need third-party management services.
- Cultivate relationships within multifamily real estate and senior housing community (e.g., developers, brokers, REITS, Private Equity, and other ownership structures) in Texas and surrounding states.
- Develop new relationships and expand existing relationships with housing authorities, housing finance agencies, and other government entities relating to affordable housing in our targeted markets.
- Staying abreast of market conditions in the target markets where the company is pursuing management or development opportunities.
- Regularly communicating with brokers and owners of multifamily real estate to identify potential management opportunities for properties that are marketed and off-market
- Travel, including site visits to potential management opportunities and tours of competitive properties to gain a complete understanding of the submarket.
Between 25 and 50% of this position’s time will be spent outside the office.
- Communicate internally regarding viable leads, opportunities, obstacles, and needs to close business.
- Work together with development, operations, and construction once potential clients are identified to market our services effectively.
- Work with operational, accounting and other corporate team members to draft and present management proposals, due diligence contracts, etc. as needed.
- Grow existing 3rd party management business (multifamily & senior housing) by closing new contracts while maintaining existing clients.
- Work together with operations to ensure a smooth handoff once new business is obtained.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of progressive experience in multifamily real estate 3rd party management and 3rd party senior housing management.
- Experience working with conventional multifamily and senior housing owners / developers as well as housing authorities and non-profits.
- Bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in real estate or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated experience interfacing with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactive, intuitive, collaborative, self-motivated, and team-oriented.
- Ability to work autonomously, be proactive, and multi-task.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
