This position is located at the J.J. Pickle Research Campus in North Austin.
Purpose
As part of a multi-disciplinary, integrated research team, the candidate will participate directly in efforts to provide support for maintenance / deployment of seismic stations and seismic data flow.
Responsibilities
To work on establishing earthquake locations and perform research.
Make frequent field visits with team members for deployment and troubleshooting seismic equipment.
Provide results and present in our stakeholder groups and conferences
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 4 years experience or Master's degree with 2 years experience in geophysics, physics, electrical engineering, earth science, or related field.
Hands-on experience in earthquake location. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in groups and independently, sometimes in demanding conditions.
Ability to manage complex systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to meet deadlines and deliverables.
Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
More than the required years of experience, with specific background and hands-on experience with earthquake location software (e.
g. SeisComP, Antelope, Seisan, Earthworm) and geophysical equipment. Proficiency in SeisComP is particularly desirable. Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
Knowledge of Python programming language, including experience in developing scripts and tools for seismic data processing and analysis.
Willingness and ability to adapt to changing research programs and project needs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills .
Salary Range
$67,000+ depending on qualifications
